Why fUSIO24 relies on the NH35 for its first model

A young brand, a new manufacturing process, its own case design – and then a standard movement? Yes. Precisely because of that. This article explains the decision for the Seiko NH35 inside the HexaCore.

What the NH35 is

The NH35 is a mechanical automatic movement by Seiko Instruments. It is one of the most widely used movements in the watch world – especially among independent brands. The key facts: automatic winding with additional hand winding, hacking seconds, date display, around 41 hours of power reserve.

Robust and serviceable

Every watchmaker knows the NH35. Spare parts, gaskets, hands and dials are available worldwide. For the wearer this means: the watch is not a closed system, but can be serviced for decades – independently of fUSIO24. For a watch whose case is deliberately made in an unusual way, this reliability inside is the right balance.

Why no complicated mechanics

A young brand does not need to start with an in-house movement. Every complication increases cost, points of failure and service effort – without changing anything about the core of the fUSIO24 idea. The innovation of the HexaCore lies in the additively manufactured titanium case, not in the escapement. The NH35 keeps the back free for what is genuinely new.

The foundation for 10 ATM

The NH35 comes from the ecosystem around the Seiko SKX – dive watch heritage, built for everyday life and water. Together with a sapphire crystal and the additively manufactured, functionally post-processed sealing surfaces, the HexaCore achieves 10 ATM water resistance. How exactly this point shaped the project for years is told in the story.

In short

  • NH35: automatic + hand winding, hacking seconds, date, approx. 41 h power reserve.
  • Serviceable worldwide – the watch stays maintainable independently of the manufacturer.
  • The innovation is in the case; the movement delivers proven reliability.
